Poor Connection? Bad Network? Try Patanjali’s New SIM Cards!

Are you experiencing bad network? Poor connectivity? Well, Patanjali has the answer for you. Yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali launched the ‘Swadeshi Samriddhi’ SIM cards in an alliance with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, on 27 May.

Patanjali currently manufactures over 900 different products, with the SIM cards signaling the entry of India’s fastest growing FMCG into the telecom industry.

The telecom industry in India is expected to be worth over Rs 14 trillion by 2020, according to the Indian Brand Equity Foundation.

However, fans of Patanjali products shouldn’t celebrate just yet. Because in the initial stages, only Patanjali employees will be able to procure and avail the full range of benefits of the SIM card.

Unlimited calling, a 2 GB data pack, and 100 outgoing SMSes at Rs 144.

  • Medical insurance of Rs 2.5 lakh and life insurance of Rs 5 lakh(subject to a number of conditions)

  • And the best news for fans of the Ramdev FMCG juggernaut... a ten percent discount on ALL Patanjali products!

Yoga guru Ramdev's Patanjali Ayurved has tied up with state-run telecom company BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited). As part of the partnership, Patanjali Ayurved will offer SIM cards. Called "Swadeshi Samriddhi", the SIM card was launched by Ramdev on Sunday, news agency ANI reported. With the launch, Patanjali entered the telecom sector, according to the agency. Currently, Patanjali Ayurved offers a wide range of products from segments such as food, ayurvedic medicine, cosmetics, home care and personal care products. Patanjali Ayurved had formally launched its e-commerce operations with website earlier this year.

Here are five things to know about Patanjali's push in the telecom sector, in partnership with BSNL:

1. Only the employees and office bearers of Patanjali will be able to avail the benefits of the Swadeshi Samriddhi SIM card, the company said on microblogging site Twitter. If the scheme is successful, it will be extended to the general public, the company said separately on Facebook.

2. Patanjali Ayurved said the profits earned from the Swadeshi Samriddhi SIM card will be used in the welfare of the country.

3. After its full launch, customers will get a discount of 10 percent on Patanjali products with the Swadeshi Samriddhi SIM card, according to ANI. Apart from this, people will also get health, accidental and life insurance benefits, it noted.

4. The Swadeshi Samriddhi SIM card will offer unlimited calls along with 2 GB of data and 100 SMSes in a recharge voucher of Rs. 144, according to ANI. The agency, however, did not mention the validity period of the recharge pack.

5. The general public will soon be able to get Patanjali Swadeshi-Samriddhi cards from five lakh counters of BSNL, ANI cited Ramdev as saying.

Patanjali’s plan is BSNL’s best plan. In Rs 144, one can make unlimited calls from any part of the country. We are giving 2 GB data pack, 100 SMSs. The members of the Patanjali has to just show their identity and there SIM will be activated soon after some paper work.
